Former President Jacob Zuma's also lost his application in the Pietermaritzburg High Court to stay his warrant of arrest.
The application was moot in the end, as Zuma had presented himself to authorities to begin serving his 15-month jail term for contempt of court.
He will likely be out after sitting for a quarter of that time.
In dismissing the application heard on Monday, Judge Bhekisisa Mnguni also made a cost order against the former President.
Meanwhile, suspended ANC secretary-general, Ace Magashule, has lost his court bid to overturn his suspension by the ANC.
Johannesburg High Court Judge, Jody Kollapen and two assessors dismissed Magashule's application with costs on Friday, including the cost of three counsel.
Magashule turned to the courts to set aside his suspension.
Magashule and Zuma were both represented by Advocate Dali Mpofu.
