President Jacob Zuma says his government is working towards correcting the problems besetting Eastern Cape education.
Speaking in reply to debate on his state of the nation address yesterday, Zuma said goverment was working tirelessly to bring about change in education and to make the education system pro-poor.
He says government is assisting the Eastern Cape in dealing with several urgent matters and has sent the deputy ministers of a number of government departments to monitor and evaluate the Bhisho Education Department.
"They will facilitate the implementation of the recommendations in a problem solving and solution oriented manner working with the presidential task team on the Eastern Cape intervention " Zuma said.
