Zuma scheduled to visit village in Idutywa

President Jacob Zuma will join the Ngcingwane village community at Idutywa in the Eastern Cape today.

This, as they harvest maize and bean crops planted last year as part of government's integrated food and nutritional security plan.

Agriculture Minister Tina Joemat-Petterson will also launch the one million hectare Integrated Food and Nutritional Plan for the new financial year.

However, the programme is not without controversy.

The Masibambisane Rural Development Initiative, which will spearhead the project, will reportedly receive nearly a billion rand of state money with no tender process being followed.

DA MP, Dion George, has called for an urgent investigation into the allocation of funds to the NGO .. which is chaired by president Zuma and in which his cousin Sibusiso Nzobe also has an interest.
