President Jacob Zuma has arrived in Ethiopia, ahead of the African Union's 50th anniversary celebrations.
The presidency says Zuma will attend the celebrations to take place from Friday to Monday. He will also attend the 21st ordinary session of the AU assembly on Sunday and Monday.
He's accompanied by International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, and State Security Minister Siyabonga Cwele.
The theme of the AU summit is "pan-Africanism and the African renaissance".
The presidency said 2013 was dedicated to celebrating the founding of the AU's predecessor, the Organisation of African Unity, on May 25, 1963.
