Zille on Kouga by election and Slabbert sacking

The leader of the Democratic Alliance, Helen Zille has arrived in Port Elizabeth for the final day of campaigning in the Kouga Municipality, ahead of Wednesday's by-election.

Speaking to AlgoaFM News shortly after her arrival, Zille said Kouga was very important to the DA.

"Kouga is a very big one, because if we win this by-elections we will have control over Kouga. I am going to have two public meetings and I will be speaking to people and telling them what is at stake. We will do everything we can as local government is empowered to do to fix things, we use the money properly and wisely. We govern accountably and if Kouga want's this they will vote DA" she said.

Meanwhile, Zille reacted to the termination of party membership of Nelson Mandela Bay councillor, Stanford Slabbert, saying he is now paying the consequences for breaking the party's code of conduct...

"Stanford Slabbert broke the fundamental rules and code of conduct of the DA . We don't accept racism in the party and he crossed the line and had to take responsibility for it"

Slabbert was charged with bringing the party into disrepute and offending his colleagues for circulating an offensive and racist email.
