A 22-year-old man has died in a fire in his dwelling in Rholihala settlement in Missionvale in Gqeberha.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said police responded to the scene at around 19:20 where they found that firefighters had already extinguished the fire.
"The structure had been completely gutted and Lucky Lose, who was alone in the dwelling at the time, died in the fire," she said.
Naidu said a partially burnt paraffin heater was found among the rubble.
"The fire spread rapidly as the walls of the building was constructed with plywood and Lose could not get out in time due to a leg impediment," she added.
SAPS Algoa Park opened an inquest docket.
