Dutwya police have arrested a 23-year-old man on a charge of murder.
Police spokesperson, captain Jackson Manatha, says its alleged that he shot and killed a 24 year old in in a village near Dutywa on Saturday.
The motive for the shooting is not known.
Manatha says police also recovered the fire-arm used in the killing.
The suspect will be in court on Monday.
Meanwhile, Eastern Cape police continue to investigate several cases which made news headlines this week, including the attack on well-known lawyer, Dali Mpofu.
He was robbed and stabbed by two men while on an East London beach this week.
Mpofu was still in hospital this weekend.
Port Elizabeth detectives continue the search for the assailant who killed a 16-year-old girl in Kuyga in the Greenbushes area.
Her body was found yesterday in a stream on Saturday.
Police said she had been assaulted with a blunt instrument.
