The xenophobic attacks have now spread to KZN's capital city Pietermaritzburg after being centred in Durban for the past few weeks.
Police in Pietermaritzburg report that between 10 and 15 shops in the city centre have been looted.
Police have been deployed to bring the situation under control. A number of shops are closed and no injuries have been reported so far.
Parents are also being told to fetch their children from school.
