Ten Walter Sisulu University students arrested for public violence are expected to appear in the Butterworth Magistrateâs Court on Monday, Eastern Cape police said.
Police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said the students from Butterworth campus in the Eastern Cape were arrested on Friday.
âTen students were arrested and charged with public violence and malicious damage to property. The students, namely six females and four males, were part of students who allegedly blocked the N2 national road and allegedly pelted motor vehicles with stones. The suspects, aged between 21 and 27, have been detained and will appear before the Butterworth Magistrateâs Court on Monday 22, August 2016,â he said.
He said two other male students were also arrested and charged with housebreaking and theft.
âThey are linked with housebreaking of shop which is within the university. The suspects, aged 22 and 25, will also appear before the Butterworth Magistrateâs Court on Monday 22 August 2016.â
