SHE DID IT!!! Port Elizabeth endurance athlete Sharon Jessop completed 101 consecutive half marathons for rhino conservation and community initiatives on Thursday morning
Jessop set out on the 22nd of September, which was World Rhino Day, on a Guinness World Record attempt to run 101 consecutive half marathon distances and she has now completed her quest on the final day of 2020.
The previous Guinness World Record was 75 consecutive half marathons.
On Sunday, 6 December when Jessop completed her 76th consecutive half marathon she became the unofficial Guinness World Record Holder.
However, the running did not stop there as Jessop was adamant to finish her 101st consecutive half marathon on Thursday 31 December 2020.
The final run took place from her home in Lorraine, Port Elizabeth.
Jessop said she was absolutely elated at achieving this huge goal and was also grateful for her excellent health and for remaining relatively injury free for the duration of the challenge.
Her aim with this Guinness World Record run was to raise awareness and funds for the One Land Love It foundation for rhino conservation and anti-poaching and also for the Community Chest of
the Eastern Cape.

“This Guinness World Record belongs to our city and everyone who contributed in any way,” said Jessop. “I feel humbled and blessed and I just love this city and its people. Let’s all keep moving from caring to doing.”
