Worker dies on roof of beachfront restaurant in Bay

The police in Gqeberha have opened an inquest docket after a 55-year-old man fell from a roof of a restaurant on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the man, who was an employee of a plumbing company fell from the roof of a restaurant in Marine Drive while doing maintenance work.

She says it is alleged that he collapsed before falling backwards.

A post-mortem will determine the cause of death.

The name of the deceased is being withheld until his next of kin have been informed.
