The Eastern Cape government said that work would resume on Monday “in full force” in the Office of the Premier.
This, after part of the main building in Bhisho, which housed documents that were being used in an ongoing investigation, caught fire more than a week ago.
The Bhisho government said in a statement Sunday that the “fire damaged a section of the building and now the ground and first floors have been cleaned and ready for occupation by personnel,” said Bhisho spokesperson Sonwabo Mbananga.
“Last week essential services whose work stations are on the second floor – East Wing of the main building at Independence Avenue e.g. Finance, Human Resources Management and Supply Chain Management; were accommodated in other buildings of the OTP around Bhisho,” he said.
Mbananga said these units would remain in those alternative accommodations whilst the rest of other employees will return to their usual work stations in the main building.
“The Top Management would like to thank members of the public and employees of the OTP for their patience and understanding during this period. Police are still investigating the cause of the fire,” he said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
