Woman to appear in George court for allegedly defrauding old age home

A 35-year-old woman has been arrested by the Serious Commercial Unit of the Hawks in the Southern Cape for allegedly defrauding an old age home of over half a million Rand.

It is alleged that during 2007 and 2008 the woman worked as an administration manager at a local old-age home in Uniondale and embezzled funds and manipulated financial records.

Captain Lloyd Ramovha of the Hawks says this resulted in the home losing approximately R587 000 from her unlawful activities.

The suspect is expected to appear before the George Regional Court on the 7th of September to face charges related to theft.
