Police in Uitenhage arrested two suspects after a woman was shot through her bedroom door during a house robbery in KwaNobuhle on Monday.
Spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli says it is alleged that three men, armed with guns and knives, kicked open a kitchen door of a house in Ngcayichibi Street.
Four occupants of the house rushed to the bedroom to get away and were holding the door shut when one of the suspects shot through the door.
Nkholi says the bullet went right through the door hitting the woman in her abdomen.
The suspects, of whom three had balaclavas on, threatened the people in the bedroom whilst looking for items of value.
The injured woman was rushed to the hospital where she is in a stable condition.
Nkohli says police received information that the vehicles used in the robbery were parked outside a local tavern,
A Red Polo, with Mpumalanga number plates, was confiscated by police and two suspects arrested.
The other suspects and another getaway vehicle is still at large.
