Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide, following a head-on collision on the Rooihoogte Road, outside Uitenhage on Thursday morning.
Captain Gerda Swart says the driver of one of the vehicles, a 47-year-old woman, died at the scene.
She says the driver and passengers of the other vehicle were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
The cause of the accident is not yet known, and police investigations are continuing.
Captain Swart says the name of the deceased will be released once her next-of-kin has been informed.
