Police in the Eastern Cape have launched a murder investigation after a woman was found stabbed to death in one of the chalets at the Hluleka Nature Reserve near Mthatha.
Spokesperson Captain Dineo Koena says police were summoned to the scene in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
She says the 31-year-old woman was already dead when they arrived on the scene whilst her 34-year-old husband sustained injuries to his upper body.
Koena says it is not yet clear what transpired and that it will form part of their investigation.
The husband was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
The couple, who are from Kwazulu Natal, was on holiday with their two-year-old son.
Koena says it appears that the couple was fighting as a neighbour heard loud voices.
She added that a case of murder and assault with the intention to do grievous bodily harm has been opened and that the child was still with the neighbour
There was no forced entry in the chalet and no valuables were taken.
