A woman still wearing her pyjamas and with a gunshot wound to the head has been found lying in a ditch on the Old St Albans gravel road in Gqeberha.
Police spokesperson, Priscilla Naidu says her body was discovered between Booysen Park and St Albans by a truck driver who contacted the police on Wednesday morning.
Naidu says the black female is believed to be between the ages of 30-35 years old and it is suspected that she may have been shot on Tuesday night.
"She was dressed in a white and brownish sleeping gown, blue pyjama pants with white stars and green bedroom sleeping boots," she said.
She says the police believe the woman may have been pregnant but a post-mortem will be conducted to confirm this.
Police have appealed to anyone who can identify the woman to come forward.
"Anyone who can assist in identifying the woman or may have any other information that can assist in the investigation is asked to contact SAPS Bethelsdorp, Crime Stop 08600 10111 or the nearest police station," Naidu added.
