Police in Gqeberha are investigating yet another home invasion in Kabega Park that took place in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the complainant was watching TV inside his flat at the back of a house at about 3.30 am when he noticed shadows and noises outside.

She says he went outside and noticed two men wearing balaclavas and white gloves.

The complainant was threatened with a firearm before the men demanded cash, phones and a safe with money.

Colonel Naidu says the suspects pushed the man back inside his house and tied him up with a phone charger before stealing his TV and phone.

She says he managed to free himself and jumped over the wall to seek assistance from his neighbour.

Colonel Naidu says the suspects then walked to the main house which was unlocked and assaulted a 64-year-old woman by hitting her on her head with a panga.

A case of house robbery is under investigation.

Police earlier issued a warning to residents in the Western Suburbs of Gqeberha to never go outside when they hear a noise, especially during load-shedding as robberies and invasions were on the rise.

Colonel Naidu says on Thursday morning, however, there was no load shedding when the robbery took place.
