A 32-year-old mother from Gqeberha survived an attempted hijacking on Thursday morning when she put up a fight against three men.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the woman stopped at a garage in Walmer Boulevard for her son to go and grab something in the shop just before 7 am.
She says three men approached her and one managed to pull out her car keys from the ignition while two other men tried to grab her handbag from the passenger side.
In CCTV footage that is circulating online, the brave woman can be seen holding onto her handbag for dear life.
Moments later her son came out of the shop, followed by staff who rushed out to assist.
Colonel Naidu says the men drove off in a white Chevy Spark and within minutes their number plate was circulated among Crime Prevention members in the CBD.
She says about half an hour later, they allegedly robbed a woman while she was crossing Russel Road.
The suspects grabbed her backpack and stabbed her in the arm when a scuffle ensued.
Colonel Naidu says at 1 pm, the vehicle was spotted parked on Rose Street in Central with two men still inside.
Both suspects, in their 30's were arrested and their car confiscated.
A third suspect remains at large.
Colonel Naidu says detectives will be probing their involvement in other cases.
The suspects are facing charges of attempted kidnapping and robbery.
