The Hawks have arrested a suspect who allegedly abducted an Eastern Cape woman and demanded a ransom from her family for her safe return.
Hawks KZN spokesperson, Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo, says the arrest was made on Tuesday by members of the Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit.
He says the 30-year-old woman was found in the suspect's vehicle in the Durban CBD following her abduction on Sunday.
Mhlongo says police are also not ruling out the possibility of further arrests.
He says the victim was taken to hospital for evaluation and the suspect was handed over to the detective handling the case.
He is expected to appear in the Sterkspruit Magistrates Court soon.
