Woes continue for SA Roadlink

An SA Roadlink bus driver will appear in court in Aliwal North on Monday.

Eastern Cape provincial traffic spokesperson, Tsepo Machaea, says he was arrested on Sunday.

He says the driver was found to be using a "photocopied" transportation permit while the vehicle's "certificate of fitness" had also expired.

Machaea says the driver was taken to the police station in Aliwal North but disappeared with the bus and passengers. He says he was stopped in the Smithfield area and arrested.

Last week dozens of SA Roadlink passengers were left stranded in Middelburg when the bus caught fire and was completely destroyed.

Earlier this month George traffic officials impounded two SA Roadlink buses.
