Willowvale Police said on Tuesday they had arrested a 69-year-old man for the alleged murder of his wife aged 67.
“The deceased was allegedly struck with a stick on Tuesday 08 March 2016 at about 01:25. The incident took place at Komkhulu Location, Mente Village Willowvale,” said the police.
“The suspect had earlier demanded to be given chicken livers of the chicken that was cooked by the deceased. This was during the evening of Monday.
“He was told that the chicken livers were not yet ready to be served. He then went to bed and at about 01:25 on Tuesday, the suspect took his stick and severely assaulted his wife on her upper body. The 67-year-old wife died instantly.
The suspect was arrested by the Willowvale Police and charged with murder. He is due to appear before the Willowvale Magistrate Court on Thursday.
The identity of the deceased is still being withheld until her extended family members are informed of her death.
