The wife of an Eastern Cape farmer appeared in court in Kariega on Tuesday in connection with her husband’s murder.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre' Beetge, said the case against the woman was not enrolled and she was released pending further investigation.
Beetge said 60-year-old Gideon van Eck was shot and killed, allegedly by his wife, on Sunday night on their farm Bakenop just outside Kariega.
He said a murder case was opened and is being investigated by Kariega police.
“Once the investigation is complete, the docket will be sent back to the Senior Public Prosecutor for a decision,” Beetge said.
