The President of Agri Eastern Cape, Douglas Stern and his deputy, met Premier Lubabalo Mabuyane on Tuesday.
This, to discuss the ongoing drought in the province.
Stern told Algoa FM News that there was an "in-principle" agreement that the entire Eastern Cape will soon be declared a drought-disaster area.
Mabuyane told them that it would also be Gazetted in the near future.
Stern says it is wonderful to now be able to work together with the Premier and his team.
Meanwhile, the DA's Midlands Constituency leader, Retief Odendaal, says the Premier has yet to indicate how far the process in terms of gazetting the drought disaster declaration is.
He says until this happens, the province is unfortunately not able to apply to national government for additional drought aid funding for farmers.
"The Premier has been unable to tell us where in the process this vetting of the drought declaration is actually at, so until the drought declaration has been gazetted, unfortunately the Province will not be a drought disaster area and for us to apply to National Government for some additional funding for the drought, we have to affect the drought declaration" he said.
