The PE branch of the SA weather service has advised that cold and windy conditions will prevail over most of the Eastern Cape on Saturday.
Light snowfalls are expected over the peaks of the Cape Fold Mountains and the Winterberg in the areas of Beaufort West through Graaf-Reinett to Stutterheim.
Snow is also possible over the southern Drakensberg.
Very cold conditions will prevail until Sunday morning and temperatures will start recovering from Sunday afternoon.
Several warnings and advisories have been issued for Saturday.
WARNINGS:
Gale force W/SW winds of 62km/h with gusts in excess of 88km/h are expected between Port Alfred coast and Port Edward until early afternoon.
High seas with wave heights in excess of 6m are expected between Cape St Francis and Port Edward in the morning.
ADVISORY:
Light to moderate snowfalls are expected over the Winterberg, Sneeuberg, Kouga and Tsitsikamma mountains and the southern Drakensberg mountains.
