Port Elizabeth weather office spokesperson, Garth Sampson says the metro can expect cold and wet conditions this coming weekend.
Sampson says however that the long-term forecast does not look promising for the city's catchment areas and has urged residents to continue using water sparingly.
From Friday through to Saturday, the south coast and adjacent interior will receive between 5 and 10 mm of rain.
Some light snowfalls are also expected along the mountains between Beaufort West through Graaff- Reinet to Stutterheim.
Several warnings and advisories have been issued for the next 48 hours.
WARNINGS:
Gale force W/SW winds of 62km/h with gusts in excess of 88km/h are expected between Tsitsikamma and Port Alfred from Friday morning.
High seas with wave heights in excess of 6m is expected along the South Coast from Friday morning, spreading to Port St Johns in the evening.
ADVISORIES:
Light to moderate snowfalls are expected over the Winterberg, Sneeuberg, Kougaberge and Tsitsikamma Berge mountains from Friday night.
Strong winds are expected over several local and district municipalities, including Dr Beyers Naude, Raymond Mhlaba, Makana, Blue Crane Route, Chris Hani and Joe Gqabi.
