The South African Weather Service has reported encouraging rainfall figures in parts of the Eastern Cape and Garden Route.
According to figures released Thursday Kareedouw, Plettenberg Bay and Mossel Bay received more than 40mm of rain overnight, with more showers expected during Thursday.
The inclement weather has also led to the closure of several passes in the Eastern Cape.
As of 9am (Thursday) the Lootsberg, Wapadsberg, Nico Malan and Barkly Passes were closed to traffic due to snowfalls.
Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes if possible.
