The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has urged residents to use water sparingly, and cut back on consumption.
Metro spokesperson, Roland Williams, says this is because water restrictions may be on the cards soon.
He told Algoa FM News that the Metro's supply dams are at a combined capacity of between 60 and 65% at the moment, down some 20% than at the same time last year.
"We could very well face water restrictions if we don't use it sparingly. What will happen now is that a provincial and national government has sent us an alert to say that we have to reduce our water consumption by a minimum of 15 percent. That means that we may have to impose water restrictions " he said
