Warring Eastern Cape taxi associations are expected to sign a peace accord on Wednesday when they meet under one roof after a long time.
The Eastern Cape Transport Ministry, says MEC, Xolile Nqatha, will facilitate the signing ceremony at the East London ICC, on behalf of the Eastern Cape government.
Spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, says the peace accord is aimed at ending ongoing taxi violence that has claimed dozens of lives in the province.

He noted the shooting of three men at the Port St Johns taxi rank in January, where five other people were wounded and three mini-buses torched.
Binqose said the Eastern Cape Department of Transport has come up with a “peace treaty” which he said would have “biting repercussions” for any of the parties who break the terms of the agreement.
