A 48-year-old Warrant Officer stationed at the Lady Grey police station made his first appearance before the Lady Grey Magistrate court on Thursday on a charge of Corruption. Warrant Officer Leon Charles Green was arrested on Monday by the Serious Corruption Investigation unit of the Hawks.
He is accused of fraudulently submitting a claim worth an undisclosed amount of money on behalf of his informer.
Captain Anelisa Feni of the Hawks says its alleged that the officer claimed that his informer supplied him with information which led to the arrest of a suspect.However, the informer claims that he did not supply any information.
The 48-year-old Warrant Officer was released on warning and ordered to appear in court again on the 15th of September.
