The Mthatha Magistrates court has issued a warrant of arrest for AbaThembu Prince Azanathi Dalindyebo after he failed to appear in court on Wednesday morning.

Dalindyebo was arrested on the 8th of June on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and pointing a firearm at his father, Abathembu King Dalindyebo.

Azanathi was acting as King during this time, and allegedly attacked his father's advisor, Babalo Papu.

In June, Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane fired Prince Azenathi Dalindyebo.

Prince Azenathi took the matter to court but subsequently lost.

A spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority Luxolo Tyali says both Dalindyebo and his lawyer failed to appear in court and did not provide a valuable reason for their absence.

The court has postponed the case indefinitely pending his arrest.
