Police in Port Elizabeth have issued a warning to e-hailing drivers in the metro to be alert and vigilant at all times.

This after several robbery cases have been reported in Newton Park, Adcockvale and surrounding areas.

A spokesperson for police Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the cases were all reported in April.

She says in all of the cases, the drivers responded to a request for a pick-up and on arrival, the suspect will get into the car.

Moments later the suspect will threaten the driver and rob him of his personal belongings.

Captain Janse van Rensburg says in most of these cases, the perpetrator is alone when the transport arrives and once inside, other suspects get into the vehicle.

Police are warning these drivers to be cautious and extra alert when they are picking up more than one passengers.

Drivers are urged to take note of strange behaviour and use their discretion.
