The Walter Sisulu University in the Eastern Cape has started the process of removing their SRC President Luyanda Chiliza.
University spokesperson Yonela Tukwayo, said the Student Affairs Department will remove Chiliza from office as he is not a registered student at the institution.
Tukwayo said Chiliza's name was never on the candidates' list that was submitted prior the SRC elections.
"All of those names that were submitted were vetted and checked, number one that were registered students and number two that they are performing academically because those are the fundamental principals that must be in place for anyone to be a candidate" she said
She said Chiliza's name was raised by the University's ANC youth League after the elections, at a meeting that was called to constitute the SRC.
She added that the league insisted that Chiliza was their preferred candidate.
"It was indicated to the youth league that Chiliza will be subject to the same verification that all the other candidates whose names were presented before elections.
During the vetting process it was discovered that he was not eligible" Tukwayo said.
