Victim in N2 shooting near George a taxi owner

The man who died in the shooting on the N2 near Thembalethu in George on Wednesday, has been identified as local taxi owner, 46-year old Nzoxolo Ntsi.

The Western Cape public relations officer of the SA National Taxi Council, Alfred Maseti confirmed the victim's identity to the George Herald, adding that he was a member of the local Uncedo taxi association in George.

An off-duty policeman from Port Elizabeth has been arrested.

The newspaper says according to Maseti, the accused is employed in George and was known to the deceased.

He said the shooting took place when Ntsi and another man approached the policeman, who was hitchhiking on the N2 hoping for a lift to PE.
