The two men accused of the murder of Gqeberha mother Vicki Terblanche, made a brief appearance in the city's High Court on Friday, where their trials were officially separated.
State Prosecutor Marius Stander said the trial of Reinhardt Leach, who was Vicki's boyfriend at the time of her death, will resume on Monday, while her estranged husband Arnold got a new date for the 7th of October 2025.
When Terblanche goes to trial, Leach will, in all likelihood, be a sentenced prisoner by then as he has already pleaded guilty to four charges against him, including the charge of conspiracy to commit murder, which could carry a life sentence.
Advocate Stander said he would call his first witness when Leach's trial resumes on Monday.
During Friday's court appearance, Terblanche, who is now facing six charges of his own, was furnished with a new indictment containing a summary of the state's substantial facts as well as a list of state witnesses, which is unchanged from the first indictment containing the names of 48 people.
The list consists of police officials, as well as family members.
It is not yet clear which judge will preside over Terblanche's case.
Vicki's body was found in a shallow grave in October 2021 after she was given an overdose of drugs before being suffocated.
