The Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development has warned residents in certain parts of the province of strong winds and the possibility of veldfires.
MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, says the SA Weather Service issued the warnings for the north-western interior and along the coast in the Great Kei and Mnquma Municipality in the Port Alfred area.
He has advised small boat owners to stay away from the open sea and seek the shelter of a harbour, river estuary, or protected bay.
People have also been advised not to make fires in the open, leave fires unattended, and not to throw cigarette butts out of cars, or in the veld.
