A newly constructed borehole pump station used as a backup to increase water supply to the Cala Municipality in the Eastern Cape has been vandalised, and diesel was stolen.
The Chris Hani District Municipality says the spate of vandalism and theft of municipal infrastructure is a serious concern as this was not the first incident experienced in the district.
Spokesperson, Bulelwa Ganyaza says, they're a drought-stricken district which embarked on a programme of drilling and commissioning new boreholes to ensure an uninterrupted water supply to communities.
