US civil rights icon Jesse Jackson is continuing his visit to the Eastern Cape with a two-day visit to Nelson Mandela Bay.
Jackson, who was a special guest at the SA Traditional Music Awards in Alice this weekend, delivered an address at the graduation of city councillors at a function at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University on Monday morning.
He also laid a wreath at the grave of ANC stalwart, Govan Mbeki at Zwide Cemetery.
Speaking to the media afterwards, Jackson said a lot of progress had been made over the past 20 years, but the road ahead is still long.
"Progress is moving and help is on the way, so we must not surrender in the face what will be a long struggle. It took a long time to undue a system so well put" he said
Jackson will visit Route 67, which honours former president Nelson Mandela, as well as the Garden of Rememberance at Donkin Reserve.
He will deliver the Govan Mbeki Memorial lecture at the Feather Market Centre on Tuesday.
