Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has appealed to residents who still have water to use it for essential purposes only.
The Municipality said on Friday night that the “situation remains dire as some areas are completely cut from water distribution due to extremely low levels of the reservoirs in their distribution zones.”
It said water tankers would be dispatched to the affected areas upon receiving reports of water outages.
“The municipality would like to plead with those residents who still have water to use it only for essential purposes. Failure to do so in the current circumstances will lead to more areas being cut completely from water distribution,” the Municipality said.
For residents and businesses to check for water tankers in their respective areas, they must kindly call 0800205050.
Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality said it expects the situation to improve as the weekend progresses.
In an earlier communication, the Municipality said the main supply reservoir namely Chelsea, Motherwell, and Grassridge are stabilizing.
The Chelsea supply zone ( Kabega, Rowalan park, Sunridge, Morningside, Kragga Kamma ) will still continue to have low-pressure supply.
The higher areas of Motherwell (Nu 8 and 9) also continue to have low pressure and no water at all in some areas.
In Despatch, Reservoir Hills and Khayamnandi both areas do not have water at all and water tankers have been deployed into these areas.
Bethelsdorp reservoir supply zone ( Westend , Heathpark and Clearly park - This zone does not have water and water tankers have also been deployed. The reservoir is now getting water and the situation will be normalised into the weekend.
