Urgent appeal from Nelson Mandela Bay's Covid-19 disaster forum

The Nelson Mandela Bay COVID-19 Disaster Management Forum has made an appeal to residents who are experiencing fever or symptoms associated with the coronavirus to immediately proceed to the nearest clinic.

A Spokesperson for the Metro Mthubanzi Mniki says there are unconfirmed reports currently circulating to the effect that locals who attended a funeral two weeks ago are suspected of having contracted the virus.

He says this has led to panic among residents.

Residents who suspect that they have contracted the virus and/or are experiencing symptoms like fever, headache, dry cough and a runny nose must urgently visit the nearest clinic.

Mniki says when residents do go to a clinic, they must wear a mask or wrap a scarf or cloth around their mouths.

Once all the necessary information has been acquired, they will be screened and advised of the process they will be required to follow.

Residents can also call the following COVID-19 related number:

0800029999 or send “Hi” to the WhatsApp number 080123456.
