The upgrading of the Cecilia Makiwane Hospital at Mdantsane in East London is expected to be completed by the First of December.
That's according to the Annual Performance Plan for the Department of Health, tabled in the Bhisho Legislature.
The APP says the project is on track with this hospital and St Patricks completed during the current financial year at a total cost of R1.4 billion, despite “continuous labour problems”.
With regard to the relocation of the Elizabeth Donkin Hospital to Dora Nginza in Port Elizabeth, the Annual Performance Plan says the department has finalised the “brief document” for the relocation which has been forwarded to the National Department of Health for review.
The project is to be completed in four phases with the first involving the refurbishment of the existing buildings at Elizabeth Donkin.
