Two farmers from Uniondale who were arrested for allegedly shooting at people during Monday's protest action in town have made a brief appearance in the George Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The 48-year-old Niklaas Gerber and the 49-year-old Marthinus Loock were both released on bail of a R1 000 each.
Spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie says initially two cases of attempted murder were opened following two separate shooting incidents from opposite sides of town.
It is alleged that the two farmers discharged their firearms in the direction of the protesters.
Pojie says in the one incident nobody was hurt but in the second incident, three people sustained minor injuries.
The men were arrested after affidavits were obtained from witnesses.
Police also confiscated three firearms, a revolver, shotgun and a rifle, which will be sent for ballistic analysis and also collected shell casings from the scenes.
The case was postponed to the 29th of July.
