Under pressure DA fights back in NMB Metro

The Democratic Alliance (DA)in the Eastern Cape says it notes the plethora of motions aimed at removing the entire DA-led coalition structure in Nelson Mandela Bay -  that was filed with the Speaker's Office.

This motion was filed this week by the African Independent Council (AIC) and backed by the EFF.

DA Eastern Cape Provincial Spokesperson, Mlindi Nhanha, said council, in the presence of both the AIC and EFF, resolved to scrap the position of the deputy mayor.

He said its very clear to the DA that these motions - mooted for the end of this month and early in April -  have nothing to do with the performance of the DA-led coalition government in the Metro and that the EFF's motion of no confidence in Mayor Athol Trollip, is without basis.

Nhanha told Algoa FM News that the DA will not sit back and allow the EFF to return the NMB Metro  to the ANC

He said the DA had a plan to mobilise the community before the first failed motion to remove Trollip as mayor in November last year.

"They came out in numbers the morning of the motion in front of City Hall, so you can't rule it out, it's a matter that is on the table. As we go along we'll unveil our plans," he said.

The EFF has called for a special council meeting on the 29th of March where it intends on tabling a motion of no confidence in Trollip.
