A Uitenhage woman has been sentenced to an effective five years in jail in the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court.
A former senior accounting clerk, Nomfundu Tshunungwa, who was employed by the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, was also ordered to repay Bayworld over R237 000.
The 36-year old previously pleaded guilty to stealing more than R360 000 from the Bayworld and an international charity that cares for people with life-threatening illnesses.
She also stole money while in her capacity as a treasurer at a care centre in Uitenhage, assisting and caring for people living with HIV/Aids and TB.
