Large parts of Uitenhage are still without water following the death of a worker on site.
A spokesperson for the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Mthubanzi Mniki says the victim was a contractor working on restoring the water supply following a burst pipe.
One of the main water supply pipelines supplying Uitenhage burst. This has caused reservoirs to empty and large parts of Uitenhage are either without water or experiencing low pressure.
The pipeline has been shut down and repair work is continuing.
Mniki says the worker's death led to a temporary closure of some parts of the site, for most of the day.
The South African Police and the Municipalities Department of Labour are investigating the incident.

The Metro says they expect reservoirs to start filling up overnight and low lying areas can expect water from the late in the morning on Wednesday.
At this stage, water tankers will remain in designated areas.
