Hundreds of Uitenhage residents gathered outside the Uitenhage town hall on Wednesday afternoon to hand over a petition to Nelson Mandela Bay Metro executive mayor, Benson Fihla.
Residents from Rosedale and Kwalanga are unhappy about land and housing issues in their areas.
SANCO chairperson and community leader Simphiwe Manziya says sewer systems over flow while the people pay for services...
"We are demanding land as we don't have houses. We are demanding service delivery, water is leaking in the streets and we are charged for services and the sewage system is overflowing" he said.
Meanwhile,Chief political co-ordinator Cheeky Makasi attended the gathering to receive the petition on behalf of the mayor
"I have looked at the demands and don't believe that these issues can be resolved in 48 hours. I am hoping the mayor will respond" he said
