Police in Kwanobuhle in Uitenhage are on the hunt for several suspects who shot and robbed a taxi owner who is also a so-called loan shark.
Police spokesperson, lieutenant-colonel Priscilla Naidu, says the incident happened in the early hours of Thursday morning when the men broke into the 37-year-old taxi owner's home.
She says he was wounded in the shoulder and chest before the men fled with a safe containing cash and bank cards belonging to other people.
Naidu says the victim is in a satisfactory condition in hospital.
She's appealed to anyone with information to contact the Kwanobuhle police.
