Two teenagers were gunned down and another three patrons injured following a shooting incident at a tavern in Walmer on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says at about 11 pm, five armed men wearing balaclavas entered the tavern and started shooting at patrons.
She says an 18-year-old male and female died at the scene while three others were injured.
Police were called to the scene in Bhabhatane Street where the two bodies were found.
Two men and a woman were injured in the attack.
Colonel Naidu says the motive and the suspects are unknown at this stage and the case has been handed over to the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit.
She says the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant Nomthetheleli Mene is deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic shooting that occurred on Youth Day, a public holiday meant to celebrate and honour the youth of our nation.
Two cases of murder and three of attempted murder are under investigation.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
