Two men are in police custody following a dramatic shoot-out on Thursday with members of the Metro Police.
A spokesperson for Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, Sithembiso Soyaya, says members were patrolling on the M17-Addo road when they were stopped by two men on foot next to a stationary truck.
He says the men informed officers that they had just been robbed at gunpoint by four suspects driving a white Toyota Tazz hatchback.
Metro Police gave chase towards Zwide and stopped at Vabaza Street, where the vehicle stopped.
Soyaya says in a dramatic turn of events, the suspects started shooting, and metro officers returned fire.
He says the officers wounded two suspects, aged 26 and 35 and took them into custody while alleged stolen goods were also recovered.
The other two suspects, still armed, fled the scene and are still on foot.
The suspects are facing charges of attempted murder and armed robbery and are being detained at the KwaZakhele Police Station.
