Two armed robbery suspects have been shot dead and an accomplice wounded and arrested following a shoot-out with Red Alert security officials in East London.
Red Alert East London's Brett Harvey told AlgoaFM News they responded to an armed robbery in progress at around 01.35 am on Monday at a business in Bonza Bay Road near Beaconhurst Drive.
When Red Alert's armed response team arrived at the scene, they were shot at by multiple suspects using handguns and automatic weapons.
Harvey says the armed robbers fled in their vehicle which was intercepted by a Red Alert armed response team in Beaconhurst Drive where a gunfight ensued.
One of the suspects died at the scene while another was arrested and is receiving medical attention in hospital.
The getaway vehicle was recovered later on the Stutterheim Road and one of the occupants, believe to be part of the same gang, was found dead inside.
Harvey says none of his personnel were injured and that the matter has now been handed over to police as it is a criminal investigation.
